Last October we blogged on how
ExxonMobil (XOM) received their Class VI Well Permits for three injection wells
from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for their Rose CCS
Project (See our Blog for details).
Then, we blogged earlier this year on XOM starting a CCS facility in
Louisiana. Then, last November, Texas
Railroad Commission received authority to approve Class VI Wells from the U.S.
EPA (See our Blog for details); they too have approved permits for XOM. Let’s dig in.
Did anyone
happen to see the Houston CCS Alliance’s Newsletter on September 15, 2026,
they had an announcement titled,” BREAKING NEWS: Texas Railroad Commission Approves
ExxonMobil’s Rose CCS Project”? In the announcement,
the Texas Railroad Commission’s (RRC) issued a permit for a Class VI injection
well for ExxonMobil’s Rose CCS Project. ExxonMobil’s
Rose CCS Project is going to be developed in Jefferson County, Texas. The project is expecting to have three CO2 storage
wells, and a CO2 monitoring system which will have three water monitoring wells
and 1 in-zone monitoring well, and it will have an 18-mile CO2 pipeline. Now the Rose CCS project has its Class
VI permit, it can move into the construction phase. We wish ExxonMobil luck developing their Rose
