Always Under Construction!!

Here at Energy Specialists Consulting, LLC (ESC) we stay on top of changes in Codes and Standards in local, state, federal as well as individual groups which influence the design and construction of pipelines and terminals.  We keep informed on updates for safety issues for all those involved.  Here are links to some of our frequently checked sites.  We hope you find them helpful!

Federal and State Government:

Federal Register aka National Archives is The Daily Journal of the US Government.  It is where you go when you are looking for documents the different agencies file.  For example, we use this when we are looking for changes in code for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). You may also go here to make comments on things the different agencies are proposing.

U.S. Department of Labor - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - When have a client who needs help filing the 300 reports for reported injuries.

U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) – We use this agency for information related to our DOT clients and to see any changes in the handling of hazardous materials and pipelines.

Texas Constitution and Statutes – We use this site to find the latest Texas statutes and code as well as to see the Texas Constitution.

Texas Department of Transportation (TX DOT) – We use this agency when we have a client who has a project crossing a bridge or street to get the latest specifications.

Engineering and Technical Societies:

American Petroleum Institute (API) – API is an advocate for America’s oil and natural gas industry in Washington DC as well as the state level of government.  They set the standards for operational & environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability for those of us that design and handle all oil and natural gas products.

American Society Testing and Materials International (ASTM) – ASTM sets the standards globally for 140+ member countries for all things we buy and use, and it gives us confidence in the things we buy that they do as they say, when we see the tagging.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – ASCE has civil engineer members in over 177 countries.  They are the leaders for civil engineering that helps plan, design, construct and operate “the built” environment like bridges and roadways, but they also protect and restore the balance with nature.  Here is where our civil engineers come for the continuing education and conferences.  Civil Engineers also look to ASCE for best practices for codes and standards in things they’re designing for in the real world.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) – ASME has engineering members in over 135 countries. ASME sets the best practice standards for the mechanical engineering like flanges, butt-welding ends in facilities and refineries we design for.
