We love to write about things
which connect to our previous blogs, and U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration’s (MURAD) National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) Program has been in our Blog many
times the last couple years as vessels are making their ways to our Maritime
Academies around the U.S. We wrote on
our own Texas A&M
University (TAMU) – Galveston Maritime Academy NSMV IV training ship, TS
Lone Star State, and how it was christened back in July; and now we have some
happy news on the ship.
Did anyone see the Greater Houston Port Bureau’s (GHPB)
Newsletter on September 23, 2026, they reprinted an article from Texas
A&M University at Galveston titled, “Texas A&M University At Galveston Celebrates
Arrival of Training Ship Lone Star State”? The
article is on how MARAD’s NSMV VI training ship has arrived home September 8,
2026. TS Lone Star State ship cost $325
million and is a multipurpose vessel to help train the next generation of
mariners as well as help when aid is needed.
Texas A&M Maritime Academy is ready to put their ship to work
training the next generation. The article
noted there will be formal ceremonies held next month to celebrate the
ship. Texas A&M Galveston will
soon be celebrating its 65th year in educating Texans as well as the Texas
A&M 150th Anniversary is coming soon. We wish
Texas A&M Maritime Academy much success training our future mariners
with their state-of-the-art vessel. If
