Happy Tuesday!
We love keeping up on the
happenings at ports along the Gulf Coast.
Port Freeport had something to
celebrate last month. They have completed
modernizing the channel.
Did anyone see the Port Freeport’s
Announcement on August 3, 2026, they have an announcement titled, “07/30/2026
Freeport channel milestone expands vessel access, strengthens U.S. supply
chains”? The announcement is in regard to an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Press Release on Port Freeport in regard to
a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project last week with federal, state, and local
dignitaries present to applaud the Port’s accomplishment. The Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project
has dredged to lower the channel and widen it to allow larger vessels to enter the
waterway and navigate more safely, as well as made improvements on the upper turning
basin. The project has taken over a
decade to complete, after its initial approval by Congress in mid-2010s. The port project is another example of how public-private
partnerships work, and they have been leading the innovative projects at Texas
ports. Congratulations, Port Freeport on
a job well-done! If you would like more
