You know we like to be informed
on the happenings of the U.S. Department of Energy’s SPR sites. Over the past several months there were several
Request for Proposals (RFP) and we usually don’t hear anything on the deliveries;
we heard something on a couple of the deliveries. Let’s get started.
Did anyone
happen to read the Oil & Gas Journal’s OGJ Daily Update Newsletter on
May 28, 2026, their article titled, “US SPR crude delivered to California for
first time amid global supply disruptions”?
In the article, it speaks on how 510,000 bbl. sweet crude oil from the U.S.
Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) at Bayou Choctaw has made it to California the
Golden State. The successful bidder was
Chevron, and they had the sweet crude delivered from the SPR in Louisiana then
taken to the trans-Panama pipeline and finally to 2 ports in California. Chevron had over 450,000 bbl. brought to
their Richmond refinery in Northern California and 50,000 barrels brought to
their El Segundo refinery near Los Angeles, California. We will let you know, if we hear anything else

Oil &
Gas Journal released their Weekly Market Report, May 28, 2026: The
report says the U.S. SPR stocks reduced by almost 10 million barrels and the
SPR’s supplies are now at approximately 365 million barrels a two-year low;
