Happy Friday!
Well, the DOE has been working
hard the last few months getting more LNG projects hand stamped as well as
getting offshore oil and gas lease sales dates on the calendar. They have been trying to get the red tape out
of the way, so America may accelerate the reliable energy build out. Well, we have another LNG project getting an
extension.
Did anyone
happen to read the DOE’s Fossil Energy and Carbon Management Newsletter on
May 19, 2025, their announcement for, “DOE Grants Lake Charles LNG Additional Time
to Commence Exports”? In the article, it
goes on to speak on how the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has approved an
extension of time for Energy Transfer’s Lake Charles LNG Export Company, LLC’s export plant in Louisiana. This extension will allow the facility time to
commission so it may sell to non-free trade agreement countries. The plant was originally designed to be an
import facility therefore the company needs time to redesign the facility to
export as well as make their final investment decision according to ET’s
website. It is noted in the news release
Lake Charles LNG is expected to be able to ship up to 2.33 billion cubic
feet per day on LNG once in fully commissioned.
