Happy Tuesday! Hope you had a chance to get outside and enjoy the warm weather! It is hard to believe two weeks ago we had snow on the ground and the city stopped!
After reading the start of the closing
of LyondellBasell’s 100+ year old refinery on the Houston Ship Channel, it is
good to hear there’s going to be a new LPG facility coming to the Houston Ship Channel. Check out our Blog Monday, January 27th
on the details of the beginning of this epic refinery’s demise.
Did anyone
happen to read the Oil & Gas Journal’s OGJ Daily Update on
February 4, 2025, their article titled, “ONEOK, MPLX form JV to construct LPG
export plant, associated pipeline in Texas”?
In the article, it speaks on ONEOK, Inc. and MPLX LP have decided to
join forces for a couple of collaborations to increase the supply for Liquid Petroleum
Gas (LPG) to export from the Gulf Coast.
The first company will be called Texas City Logistics (TCX). TCX is a
50-50 investment of $700 million each. TCX
is planning to build a 400,000-barrel per day (bpd) LPG export terminal in
Texas City and start-up is anticipated for early 2028. The new export plant will be built on Marathon’s
existing site and will use its current groundwork. The facility is anticipating they will produce
low ethane propane (LEP) and normal butane (NC4) and each company will be
keeping some of the products for their own clients.
ONEOK and MPLX
have agreed on a second collaboration for the 24-in OD pipeline which will
connect to ONEOK’s Mount Belvieu, Texas facility and the name of it is MBTC
Pipeline LLC. MBTC Pipeline investment split
is 80% ONEOK and 20% MPLX and $280 million and $70 million, respectively. ONEOK will be building and running the
pipeline. Well, this is the first LPG export
terminal we’ve heard of in a good while and it’s nice to see something other
than LNG being developed on the Gulf Coast. We wish the two new companies’ luck in their
endeavors! If you would like to read
