Happy New Year! Did you enjoy your day off yesterday? We did and now we are ready to have a fresh start now it is 2025!
Did anyone
happen to read Chron. THIRDCOAST Newsletter on January 2, 2025, their
article titled, “This controversial Texas warship can’t stay out of the
headlines”? In the article, it goes on
the speak about the timeline since Battleship Texas’ departure from the State Park
near the San Jacinto Monument to the shipyard for its repairs and renovations thru
December as well as progress the Galveston Wharves has made finding a home. In early November, the Galveston Wharves Board
selected a three-member committee to help locate a permanent home for the
battleship. In early December, the special
committee held its initial meeting and says they have located three possible homes
for the battleship: two by Pier 20 and one by Pier 15, and they would have more
information at their January 14th meeting. The
public have been chiming in on their opinions of the possible locations, nonetheless
this American Treasure deserves a place where we all may pay our respects to
her, and future Americans may be able to see her and her grandness. We wish them much luck finding their new
forever home! We will keep you posted,
