The Panama Canal Authority has announced additional loosening of some restrictions for its users coming soon!

Well, the Panama Canal Authority released another announcement, so we thought we should let you know!  In line with their announcement back in May, (check out Blog for details) ACP released some good news last week, for those using the Panama Canal.

Did anyone happen to read gCaptain’s Daily on June 13, 2024, their article titled, “Panama Canal Continues to Ease Drought Restrictions as Rainy Season Kicks off”?  The article speaks in regard to the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) is loosening some restrictions ahead of schedule increasing its maximum draft to 46 feet on Jun 15th as well as the number of vessels using this waterway will increase twice in July.  The Panama Canal’s Neopanamax locks will increase by one on July 11, 2024, so 9 will have passage through the waterway.  The Panamax locks will increase its number of vessels which pass through the canal on July 22 from 24 to 25.  This increase in the number of vessels to 34 passing through this important waterway is good news for the canal its journey back toward normalcy.    ACP will update the numbers of transits and increase the draft as the water levels increase in its watershed now the rainy season upon them.
