The USCG reported a new area of oil found in the Gulf near the November spill area!

Happy Tuesday

Did anyone happen to read The Houston Chronicle’s Business Section on December 7, 2023, their article titled, “New '’sheen’ in Gulf near site of spill – Cause of November oil leak still unknown; no damage found on 67-mile ling pipeline”?  The article was about how on last Tuesday a new area of oil was found by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).   It’s been almost a month since a 1.1-million-gallon oil spill was located and reported off the coast of Louisiana near the mouth of the Mississippi River.  The USCG has been investigating 67-miles of pipeline suspected to be where the leak occurred, and 22-miles of other pipelines in the area with no damage or leak found, so the search continues.   Many companies in the area have been at a standstill awaiting news from the USCG to resume business.  The new oil patch isn’t believed to be part of the original leak but adds to the question ‘where is it coming from?’.  The USCG hasn’t acknowledged, if it is looking at other possible culprits like deep sea wells, but they continue to look at the pipelines in the area.  If you would like to read more of The Houston Chronicle’s article on Microsoft Start for free, please click the link: New ‘sheen’ found in Gulf of Mexico as officials continue search for source of last month’s oil spill (msn.com).
