RRC’s Texas Hydrogen Production Policy Council (TXH2) had its inaugural meeting earlier in December with introductions to the newly appointed members.

Happy Wednesday!

Did anyone see the Greater Houston Port Bureau’s (GHPB) Newsletter on December 27, 2023, they mention an announcement from Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) titled, “RRC Begins Planning and Oversight with Newly Established Texas Hydrogen Production Policy Council”?   The announcement is in regard to the 88th Legislature’s House Bill 2847, which created the Texas Hydrogen Production Policy Council (TxH2 Council) which will be under the RRC purview and will be headed by Chairman Christi Craddick.  The RRC will be in charge of the hydrogen pipelines and storage as it is with oil and gas.  The TXH2 Council will have the powers to create a state plan for hydrogen production, scrutinize hydrogen industries around Texas, and have oversight over the different local areas in creating the clean hydrogen hub.  The Council will help guide the Legislature in helping with the rules and regulations to govern the hydrogen industry in its production, transportation, and storage.

The TxH2 Council will have 12 members including Chairman Christi Craddick as its chair.  TXH2 Council in the Fall took applications to fill 11 seats. The following people were picked from the applications and placed on the Council: Richard Fenza (Air Liquide), Preston Kurtz (Air Products & Chemicals), Nigel Jenvey (Baker Hughes), Keith Wall (CenterPoint Energy), Ian Lindsay (Chevron New Energies), Angie Murray (Enterprise Products), Scott Anderson (Environmental Defense Fund), Brian Weeks (GTI Energy), Jeffrey Pollack (Port of Corpus Christi Authority), Brian Korgel (University of Texas), and Kelsie Van Hoose (Williams Companies).   The TxH2 Council had its inaugural meeting on December 14, 2023, with introductions to originating members.

We would like to congratulate the newly appointed council and wish them much luck in this emerging industry.  If you would like to read more about the TXH2 Council, please click the link: 121423 RRC Begins Planning and Oversight with Newly Established Texas HydrogenProduction Policy Council.
