U.S. EIA announced they expect fossil fuel demand to increase over the next 30 years!

Happy Monday!  Welcome to another week of the ESC News Blog.

Did anyone happen to read The Houston Chronicle on October 12, 2023, their article titled, “Fossil fuel use likely to increase – A federal agency says existing global policies, Third World dependence won’t cut energy emissions”?  In the article, it goes on to speak about the U. S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) last week announced fossil fuel use isn’t expected to reduce by 2050 with current policies across the globe to help stop the worst of climate change.  Underdeveloped nations are expected to increase fossil fuel use between 1% and 40% over the next 30 years.  This combined with Africa and India’s expanding fossil fuel use which is expected to grow 2.9% and 3.4% respectively will also not be helping climate change.  There is good news!  The U.S. EIA is estimating that renewables like solar and wind will increase usage between 75% and 120% in the next 30 years, but renewables are only about half of the equation. The article goes on to speak about how we need more technological advances as well as more social policies change but will need the aid of consumers, if it is going to happen!
