Happy Monday and welcome back to another week of ESC News Blog!
Did anyone see The Houston
Chronicle’s Business Section on Saturday, August 5,
2023, their article titled, “Buttigieg, officials at the port cheer new wharf”? In the article, it speaks about Port Houston’s opening of its new Wharf 6 at
Bayport Container Terminal in Seabrook which is to be completed later this year. The newest wharf cost was $91.6 million and
includes 1,000 feet of new container space, marine bollards, and fiber optic
cabling. Part of the cost of the new Wharf
6 came from the federal Port Infrastructure Development Program ($21.84
million) and additional $18 million for a related project. Port Houston made an announcement recently
which coincides with its new Wharf 6 opening in that its three neo-Panamax ship-to-shore
cranes arrived for its new wharf and will be commissioned and be up and running
later this year. This expansion will help the Port Houston’s
growth which is currently ranked as the #5 container port in the country. Port Houston expansion is all part of
its goal to bring international business to the area and aid in its growth. We wish Port Houston continued growth
and prosperity in its expansion. If you
