Happy Tuesday!
Did anyone see The Houston
Chronicle’s Business Section on August 11, 2023, their article
titled, “Texas, La. sites get carbon capture nod- Energy Department puts up to
$1.2 billion behind Occidental and Battelle projects”? In the article, it speaks about Occidental
Petroleum’s (Oxy) project south of Corpus Christi and Battelle’s project in southwest
Louisiana which will be direct carbon capture facilities which will remove and
permanently store up to one million metric tons of CO2 every year. The two projects have been chosen to be
awarded $1.2 billion of federal money from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure
Law. Two more direct capture facilities
will be awarded the rest of the money in the future, but the DOE won’t start
looking until next year. We wish the two
projects much success in helping clean our air!
