Happy Tuesday!
We like to stay on top of what’s
happening in Port Houston and the
Houston Ship Channel, and this article caught our eyes. We received a newsletter from Storage
Terminal Magazine on Monday, July 10, 2023, they had an article titled,
“Stolt Tankers Introduce Barge Operation.” In the article, it speaks about how Stolt
Tankers has started a barge operation at Port Houston, and it has reduced time
at port by about three days, as well has reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,
and reduced fuel usage by about 1.7%. Stolt
Tankers has three barges they use to unload their ships, when they are waiting
to come into port which means turnaround time is faster and they’re out to sea
faster. The barge comes to port and then
unloads at a more convenient time. In
2022, Stolt Tankers reduced their GHG emissions by about 4,077 tonnes which helps
with climate change. Well, this goes in line with the recent goals
of the IMO, so we hope more ideas come in to help with reaching their 2030 target
dates to help climate change. If you would like to read more of the article
