Marine LNG facility coming to Galveston Wharves.

Happy Thursday!

Well, we like to keep up with the happenings on the Gulf Coast, and we especially pay attention to the Texas Ports.  We blogged on Galveston LNG Bunker Port, LLC which will be the first LNG bunker terminal in the region (See our Blog in May 2025, and January 2026 for details).  We blogged on the Battleship Texas is setting up shop in Galveston, and where it will be and how the restorations are going (see our Blog update in December 2025 and March 2025).  Well, now we have something else proposing to be built along Galveston Wharves area.

Did anyone happen to read Chron.’s Breaking News on October 8, 2026, their article titled, “Alert: Gulf Coast port lands major LNG deal”?    The article, it goes on to speak on how the Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees recently made an agreement with Power LNG LLC to lease land for a LNG facility to be built on Pelican Island.  Power LNG will be creating a facility which will be able to make 400,000 gallons a day to be used to as fuel for LNG vessels coming to the region.  Galveston Wharves is leasing a 30-acre area on the deep-water side of Pelican Island, and the development is proposed to have a deepwater pier, liquefaction trains, storage tank, and a pipeline.  Power LNG is expecting the application process for federal and state approvals and construction of the facility to be completed by the end of 2028.  We wish the Power LNG luck getting their permits and the project being completed on time and on budget.  If you would like to read more of Chron’s article on MSN, please click the link: Port of Galveston makes deal to lease out land for major new LNG plant.
