Port of Brownsville’s Brazos Island Harbor Channel Improvement Project had its ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Happy Monday!  Welcome back to another week of ESC News Blog.

We love to have an update on any important infrastructure project especially in regard to Texas Ports.  Well, we have blogged on Port of Brownsville’s Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Channel Improvement Project since early 2023, and we blogged periodically on updates on the project throughout the last couple years.  Well, we finally have some wonderful news!

Did anyone see the Port of Brownsville’s Newsletter: Ports Matter on July 14, 2026, their article titled, “Port of Brownsville Celebrates Completion of BIH Channel Improvement Project”?  In the article, it announced the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Channel Improvement Project completion was celebrated at the end of June, and representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, NextDecade and the Brownsville Navigation District (BND) were present for the ribbon-cutting celebration.   The BND’s BIH project dredged to lower the Brownsville Ship Channel 10 feet, starting at the opening of the channel and its jetties were lowered to 54 feet and the central channel was lowered to 52 feet.  The project was completed on time according to our blog on Segment B which was June 2026.  The completion of BIH project shows how public-private partnerships help America and the communities who live near them.   This is great news for the Port of Brownsville.  If you would like to read more about the BIH Channel Improvement Project at the Port of Brownsville, please click the link Port of Brownsville Celebrates Completion of Brazos Island Harbor Channel Improvement Project - Port of Brownsville.

If you would like help in looking into how to transport and store your emissions or liquid products, contact us via the email in the blog and check out our ESC's website!

We hope you have a great and productive rest of your week!
