Delfin LNG has given their deepwater export port FLNG 1 a green light!

Happy Thursday!  Sorry about the miss yesterday!  Let’s get started.

We have an update on a blog from the end of March 2025.  Did anyone happen to read the gCaptain Daily Newsletter June 4, 2026, their article titled, “Delfin Approves $5 Billion Floating LNG Export Project Off Louisiana Coast”?  In the article, it spoke on how Delfin LNG, LLC finally announced they have made their Final Investment Decision (FID) for their offshore deepwater export port, and the first phase is FLNG 1; it’s a green light.  Delphin has secured backing from a group of investors and is moving forward with their deepwater port.  FLNG 1 is a floating LNG vessel, and it will have $5 billion for the first phase.   Delfin FLNG 1 is the first of three proposed FLNG vessels and if they all are constructed, they will ship out 13.2 million tonnes yearly, and last year the U. S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) approved Delphin’s deepwater port license; see our blog in March 2025, for details.  The offshore port will be in federal waters roughly 43 to 47 miles (37.4 and 40.8 nautical miles) off the coast of Louisiana, and they will use their existing infrastructure to transport the natural gas to the deepwater port.  The project is expected to be operational by 2030.  We wish Delfin LNG much luck and success in the completion of their project.  If you would like to read more of the gCaptain’s article, please click the link:   Delfin Approves $5 Billion Floating LNG Export Project Off Louisiana Coast.
