MARAD’s PIDP has opened another round of federal funding for American ports.

Happy Monday!  Welcome back to another week of ESC News Blog.  I hope you have been out enjoying the beautiful and had an enjoyable weekend!  Let’s get started.

Did anyone happen to read the gCaptain Daily Newsletter on March 27, 2026, their article titled, “Trump DOT Rolls Out $488M Port Funding Push to ‘Restore Maritime Dominance’”?  In the article, it speaks on the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD) recently announced another round for the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) which was part of the previous administration $2.25 billion five-year program to help ports around the country with improvements for their infrastructure and logistics to keep us moving.   PIDP has $488 million in federal money to partner with US ports for improvements such as cargo handling and innovative ways get containers out of ports to consumers.  They have set around a quarter or around $120 million of the funding to help smaller ports in particular.  The PIDP is now going to be part of the push for American maritime dominance which is a priority and part of the US maritime strategy.  We wish those ports throwing their hats in for the federal funds, “good luck!”  We will let you know, if we hear anything else interesting on this matter.  If you would like to read more of the article from gCaptain’s, please click the link:   Trump DOT Rolls Out $488M Port Funding Push to ‘Restore Maritime Dominance’.
