Happy Tuesday!
You know we love an update and we
have blogged on Oxy’s “Stratos” several times since 2023 even when their
1PointFive received their Class VI Well permits from the EPA last spring for
this important carbon capture and sequestration project (CCUS). Check out our
blogs on the history of “Stratos” and the other DAC projects 1PointFive has. We have some good news!
Did
anyone happen to read the Oil & Gas Journal’s OGJ Daily Update
Newsletter on March 3, 2026, they had an article titled, “Occidental
Petroleum, 1PointFive STRATOS DAC Plant nears startup in Texas Permian Basin”? In the article, it speaks on how Occidental
Petroleum Corp.’s (OXY) 1PointFive is close to completing Phase 1 construction and
Phase 2 start up for operation is on the horizon for this direct air capture
(DAC) facility. Stratos will have three
wells to deposit carbon dioxide (CO2) in saline reservoirs deep underground. We wish Oxy’s 1PointFive luck storing
the CO2 deep underground and helping to improve the air quality for local
communities. If you would like to read
