Happy Tuesday!
Welcome back to another week of
ESC News Blog. We hope you had a fun and
an enjoyable holiday weekend! Let’s get
started!
Well, the U.S. DOE
has been working hard the last few months getting more LNG projects back on track. Well, tentative approvals the federal government
offered back in mid-February for Commonwealth LNG, LLC has made it to the finish line, with the last of the approvals
needed to start has arrived. (Check out our Blog for details.)
Did anyone
happen to read the DOE’s Fossil Energy and Carbon Management Newsletter on
August 29, 2025, their announcement titled, “Energy Department Issues Final Export
Authorization to Commonwealth LNG”? In
the announcement, it goes on to speak on how the U.S. Department of Energy
(DOE) has granted an authorization to ship to Non-Free Trade Agreement (Non-FTA)
countries for Commonwealth LNG, LLC in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The DOE’s authorization approves Commonwealth
LNG to ship 1.2 billion cubic feet of liquified natural gas (LNG) a day to
these countries. Earlier
this year summer Commonwealth LNG received their U.S. Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) final approval which was withheld last summer due
to a Federal Appellate Court found they had an insufficient Environmental
Impact Statement (EIS), and their Supplemental EIS was completed earlier this
year, thus in line with the court’s order.
Now Commonwealth LNG is expected to make their final investment
decision later this year. We wish Commonwealth
LNG a speedy start of construction now they have their federal permits in
hand! If you would like to read more of
