Happy Wednesday!
Did anyone
happen to read the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fossil Energy and Carbon
Management Release on April 1, 2025, their announcement, “Energy Department
Takes Action to Remove Barriers for Requests to LNG Export Commencement Date
Extensions”? In the announcement, it goes
on to speak on how the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) said they have made a
change for those who need to delay their commencement date by removing the
previous administration’s rigid measures for approved LNG projects. The new measure will be based on commonsense. The DOE’s new policy will still examine a company’s
application for an extension of their Non-Free Trade Agreement (non-FTA) export
permit by examining the status of construction and they will take into
consideration the cause of the delay which may have been out of the company’s control. A non-FTA export permit for is seven years. Since the new administration has taken the
reins there have been a few extensions granted.
