We love a
follow-up and an update, so Battleship Texas was in the news for an update on
its repairs and restoration.
Did anyone
happen to read Chron. Gulf Coast’s Newsletter on August 23, 2024, their
article titled, “Battleship Texas move to new, temporary home in Galveston – The
historic dreadnought is entering the next phase of its extensive repair and restoration.”? In the article, it goes on the speak about
how the Battleship Texas was being relocated to pier A at the Gulf Copper Dry
Dock & Rig Repair for continuation of the work being done on it on August
22, 2024. Battleship Texas has
completed more than two years of repairs, and 700 tons of steel have been used,
and more of its revitalization will happen on Pier A at a reduced daily rate
until it’s finished. According to the
Battleship Texas Foundation they will be working on the wood deck now the steel
deck has been repaired and painting the of ship. The dreadnought is expected to be in its new
home in late 2025 or early 2026. If you

The Battleships
Texas Foundation noted they will be allowing tours in the shipyard later this
year, so please check their website for information on further details. A wonderful project like the restoration of
the Battleship Texas will need our help to be restored and taken care of for
