Recovery is slow here in Houston. We are starting to think they aren’t fixing the traffic lights around us and the gully wash of a rain we had this afternoon didn’t help! We hope your area of town is faring better!
At this point,
you know how we enjoy writing follow-ups for our Blog! We wrote about the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) having
purchased or have had returned to them approximately 42.6 million barrels of
oil, and they have lined up purchasing agreements for another approximately 9
million barrels to be delivered in September, October and November to Big Hill
SPR in Texas.
Did anyone
happen to read the DOE’s CESER Updates Newsletter for the Strategic
Petroleum Reserve on July 10, 2024, their update included, “U.S. Department
of Energy Announces New Solicitations for 4.5 Million Barrels Continues Biden-Harris
Administration’s Commitment to Replenish at a Good Deal for American Taxpayers,
Maintain the SPR’s Operational Readiness, and Protect the Nation’s Energy
Security”? In the DOE’s updates, the Office
of Petroleum Reserves has announced another round of solicitations for purchase
for up to 4.5 million barrels of sour crude for their reserves at Bayou Choctaw
in Louisiana to be delivered the last quarter of 2024. Their decision was based on the price of oil
being below their threshold of $79, and Bayou Choctaw’s scheduled maintenance being
behind them the SPR decided to post another solicitation to refill this

solicitation’s deadline for proposals is for 4.5 million barrels of sour crude
