Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is staying safe and dry in this thunderstorm going over Houston this evening!
Did anyone happen to see the News Release from Gulf
Coast Protection District (GCPD) on May 15, 2024, titled, “Coastal Texas
Project Provided Funding in FY 2024 Work Plan”? GCPD’s release speaks about the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE) released their FY 2024 Work Plan for the Army Civil
Works Program. USACE is providing
the first payment from the U.S. government for the Coastal Texas Project in the amount
of $500,000. The federal monies will be
going towards the preconstruction engineering and design for the Bolivar Peninsula
and West Bay Gulf Intracoastal Waterway Shoreline and Island Protection feature
called G-28, and its effort to get to construction. The Coastal Texas Project is a partnership
between the USACE, GCPD, and the Texas General Land Office, and
their long-term project to protect the Texas coastline and all its inhabitants
and businesses against severe and deadly weather. We would like to congratulate the Coastal Texas
Project for getting the federal monies to continue with this important task
of protecting Texans! If you would like
