Looks like in 2028 Texas will have a new natural gas power plant adding power to the Texas power grid.

Happy Thursday!  Happy Margarita Day!

Did anyone happen to read The Houston Chronicle’s Business Section on February 17, 2024, their article titled, “Natural gas plant in bitcoin hub town”?  The article speaks about some good news for the power grid in Texas a new 1200-megawatt natural gas plant is in the works in Lee County where a previous coal plant stood until it was retired in 2018.  Sandow Lakes Energy Company is building a new natural gas power plant near an old coal town, Rockdale, and the power plant is expecting to break ground in 2025, and it is expecting to power the grid by 2028.  The new plant will have two fuel efficient gas turbines from Siemens Energy, and they have the ability with a few modifications to run on hydrogen.  The town of Rockdale has become a hub for bitcoin miners who have made good use of the infrastructure in the area, so a local power source must be welcome news to them.  If you would like to read more of The Houston Chronicle’s article, please click the link: Texas natural gas power plant planned for former coal town (houstonchronicle.com).
