Happy Monday and welcome back to another week of ESC News Blog!
Did anyone
happen to read The Houston Chronicle on December 2, 2023, their article titled,
“Battleship Texas soon could call Galveston its permanent home”? The article was about the possibility of the USS
Battleship Texas may be permanently moving to The Galveston Wharves next the
cruise terminals. The Battleship Texas
Foundation was granted approval for a tentative lease, if they attain
approvals from the coast guard, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE),
establish a plan for the battleship for tropical storms and other events which
happen on the Gulf Coast, as well as a few other things. The Battleship Texas is the last of its kind,
a dreadnought, which was a type of battleship used in the early 20th
century. Right now, the USS Texas is
undergoing restoration and repairs, so the goal is to open in 2025 in a new
facility in a new place. The Battleship
Texas Foundation is still raising funds for the battleship and its new
facility, if you would like to help! Please
check out their website, Battleship Texas Foundation. If you would like
