Did anyone happen to read the announcement the U. S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) on November 3, 2023, titled, “Biden-Harris Administration Invests More Than $653 Million in Ports to Strengthen American Supply Chains”?  In the announcement, it goes to speak about MARAD helping fund 41 port improvement projects across the U.S. with $653 million through the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP).  The funding is to help ports anywhere in the U.S. including the coastline, inland rivers, and Great Lake ports.  The funding used is coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which allotted $17 billion to invest in waterways and ports.  The PIDP has been used to improve port and other related infrastructure to help keep supply chains moving through improved efficiency, innovation, infrastructure improvements, and project management.  The selected grant recipients include projects in the following states or territories: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Noth Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oregan, Rhode Island, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.  In Texas, the following projects received over $36 million in grants: Cedar Port Infrastructure Development Project, Velasco Terminal Sustainable Expansion Project, and West Basin Bulkhead.  The money received will help Texas docks expand and make them safer and more efficient places to work and do business.  We would like to congratulate all those who received federal monies and wish them speedy completion of their projects.  If you would like to read more of MARAD’s announcement, please click the link: Biden-Harris Administration Invests More Than $653 Million in Ports to Strengthen American Supply Chains | MARAD (dot.gov)
