Happy Tuesday!
You know we
keep on top of what happens in the Ports in our area, so here’s the latest from
The Galveston Wharves in Galveston, Texas.
Did anyone
happen to read The Houston Chronicle’s Business Section on October 3, 2023,
their article titled, “Galveston port gets $42M boost – Infusion of state
funding will help expand cargo business, aid traffic flow and travelers”? In the article, it goes on to speak about The Galveston Wharves or Port of Galveston announcement last Thursday. The Galveston Wharves were given $42.3
million from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to help fund their 2019
strategic master plan which will begin next year. The funds they received are the largest amount of money the port has ever been awarded. The Galveston
Wharves will use funds to enlarge and improve the West Port Cargo Complex, improve traffic movement in the area and improve safety measures for the foot traffic crossing
to the cruise lines on Harborside Drive. The strategic master plan’s additional funds will
come from the port itself and the whole project will be turnkey by 2026. If you would like to read more of The
