Happy Halloween and happy Tuesday! Can you believe Halloween and the end of October are already here? It seems like it was just Memorial Day and the kids were getting out of school for the summer, but I guess time does speed up as we get older.
Did anyone
happen to read The Houston Chronicle on October 31, 2023, their article titled,
“Refinery will convert to hydrogen – Soon-to-be-closed LyondellBasell facility will
become part of federally funded hub”? In
the article, it goes on to speak about LyondellBasell’s Houston refinery which
is along the Houston Ship Channel was set to be retired in 2024, but was
delayed until 2025. On Friday, October
27, 2023, during its earnings call, the company said it will be part of the HyVelocity Hydrogen Hub. LyondellBasell will be joining Exxon,
Chevron, University of Texas at Austin, as well as some other companies and
some nonprofits which have been awarded federal funding to help with HyVelocity
Hydrogen Hub and the area's transition towards cleaner energy. LyondellBasell is trying to be part of the change
going on in the oil and gas industry as it is trying to be a trendsetter by investing
more in recycled plastics and the energy transition. LyondellBasell joining the HyVelocity Hydrogen Hub
was a good fit with what to do with the aging refinery as well as helping it
meet its current goals. If you would
