Happy Thursday! Can you believe the week is almost over?
Did anyone
happen to read The Houston Chronicle on September 20, 2023, their
article titled, “Ammonia-to-power startup to hire 200 – North Houston facility
to launch in 2024, making equipment to decarbonize shipping”? In the article, it goes on to speak about the
Brooklyn based company, Amogy who is
repurposing a facility in North Houston to make engines which use ammonia as
the fuel to aid in decarbonizing the shipping industry. Amogy’s engine changes the ammonia to hydrogen
which powers their fuel cell technology to make electric which runs the engine of
the ship. The engine is similar to the
size of the existing diesel engines in a ship, so it can be swapped out. Amogy chose Houston because of its proximity
to its supply chain and its skilled workforce.
They plan to hire 200 people from engineers to administrators before the
end of 2024 and hiring is underway. Amogy Houston is expected to be up and
running in early 2024. If you would like
