Did anyone read the ILTA’s News Plus
newsletter from today? ITLA
listed an update final ruling which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) filed with the Federal Register last week titled, “Implementing
Statutory Addition of Certain Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) to the
Toxic Release Inventory Beginning with Reporting Year 2023.” The EPA is updating the list of toxic chemicals
(Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)) which must be reported under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA). The update is
adding regulations to identify nine per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
which from now on must be reported starting July 1st, 2023, on the next

Today the EPA made an
announcement about how they will review and handle new PFAS and new uses for PFAS
before allowing them into marketplace.
The announcement titled,” EPA Announces New Framework to Prevent Unsafe
New PFAS from Entering the Market.”
