We hope you
all are enjoying your Hump Day (Wednesday)!
We’d like to say, “Welcome Aboard to Captain Eric Carrero!” 🚢
The Greater Houston
Port Bureau
announced the replacement for the retiring Captain Bill Diehl earlier this
week. Captain Eric Carrero will be taking
the helm as the President of The Greater
Houston Port Bureau on July 1st, 2023. Captain Eric Carrero will be retiring from
the U.S. Coast Guard after 26 years of service in May 2023. Captain Carrero is no stranger to the Houston/Galveston
region and the Houston Ship Channel after being assigned here for 8 years, and
he served as Commanding Officer of the Marine Safety Unit Texas City. His current leadership position is of the Waterways
Management Division for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Eight District which will give
him a special view of U. S. Ports, and with that experience it will help him
direct and grow the Greater Houston Port Bureau into the future. We wish Captain Eric Carrero a happy retirement
and successful career here in Houston!
